UABgrid the campus computation and collaboration infrastructure. It is implemented using the leading edge federation technologies of Globus and Shibboleth for resource and application sharing. It is a ground breaking effort at building an integrated collaboration environment: a compter that is always on and always where you are. It's a collection of resources the makes high performance computing and collaboration environments available to people on campus and around the globe.

UABgrid is being constructed as a collaboration between the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology, the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and the School of Engineering.

UABGrid is also a founding member of SURAgrid. This participation provides UAB researchers access to grid resources at participating sites and helps extend collaborations across institutional boundaries.

UABGrid is currently available to members of the UAB community and we are working on extending it's availability across partner institutions and beyond, the newer features are expected by the third quarter of 2007.
